Command line monitoring tool for ethOS

November 12th, 2017 No comments

This perl script displays general & per-GPU stats for an ethOS system. There’s nothing here you can’t get from the ethosdistro.com admin panel or show stats command, but it’s useful for viewing much of that info in a more organized fashion from the command line.

Covert Antenna Installation – 2013 RAM 1500 Laramie

September 2nd, 2017 No comments

About a year ago, I purchased a custom dual band antenna from US Communications. It replaces the stock fender mount antenna on the truck, and is tuned for AM/FM frequencies as well as 144.39MHz, which is the frequency used by amateur radio operators for APRS transmissions. I finally got around to installing it today. This article documents the process I used to install the antenna in a ‘HowTo’ format. Hopefully my experience can help someone else out.

Monitoring a RAID controller on a remote machine with MRTG

May 17th, 2014 No comments

In this post, I’ll show you how, using MRTG and xinetd, I set up monitoring of the temperature of a RAID controller on a remote machine.  I use the same technique to also graph the temperatures of the individual hard drives in the RAID array as well, and it can be used to graph just about anything.

Fixing queues display in trixboxGraph

March 21st, 2012 No comments

I recently installed the trixboxGraph package to my trixbox CE asterisk PBX, and discovered that the functions related to queues were borken. I investigated and fixed it. There are two lines that need updating in tb-trixboxgraph/index.php.

KF7TZO

February 16th, 2012 No comments

It’s official – I’m a ham. I’ve been accused of it for years, and now you’ve all been proven right.

I took the technician class amateur radio exam on February 4th, and aced it. 100%! My call sign (KF7TZO) was granted on February 13th. You will probably find me on the 2 meter band most of the time. Watch for me on aprs.fi, too.

Sometime in the nearish future, we’re going to be launching a weather balloon, and tracking it via APRS, which is a packet technology that uses amateur radio frequencies. There will definitely be more to come on that project.

MyMovies – Bulk Path Change for Online Titles

June 12th, 2011 7 comments

NOTICE: See the comments section for MyMovies 5 info.

My Home Theater PC has a 2TB RAID array, on which I was storing movies, music and recorded TV. After upgrading from my analog tuners to a Ceton quad tuner board, which gave me access to more programming as well as HD programming, I found that my 2TB array was starting to get a little too close to full, a little too often.
